Kickstarter Refunds

The following only applies to backers of the following tiers (the other tiers have either been fulfilled or refunded):

Knight
Lord of the Realm
High Wizard
Imperator

As announced previously, physical rewards and certain digital rewards have been canceled. Accordingly, refunds are now being offered for the Skald Kickstarter for the above backer tiers.

Sadly, the “refund” function on the Kickstarter is deeply flawed. It does not work in about 90% of cases (as it is dependent on both updated payment methods on the users part but it will also only work if the user has used one of relatively few acceptable payment methods. It also does not refund the correct amount as it does not account for currency exchange-rate fluctuations (this would, for instance, result in USD backers getting only 75% of their pledge back. Needless to say this is not good enough).

As a result refunds need to be handled manually using third party solutions and action is required on your part so read the instructions below.

It is also worth mentioning that it is important to me that even refunded users get their access key to the game. Take this opportunity to ensure that you got your copy of the Steam or GOG key for Skald.

Getting a Refund on Kickstarter

To get your refund you need to send an email to refundsskaldrpg.com with the following information:

Your name as it appears on Kickstarter and your backer number (you can just screenshot your pledge screen on Kickstarter)
The tier you backed on (Knight, Lord of the Realm, High Wizard, Imperator)
Ideally a receipt from Kickstarter showing the currency you backed in. This is to ensure the refund will match the pledge amount despite the currency exchange rate potentially being different. Even just a screenshot of your Kickstarter backend will suffice for this. If you’re unable to find this, we’ll find an alternate solution.
A means for receiving the funds (ideally Paypal).

Would you prefer for us to try and use the Kickstarter refund function instead? This may work for some users and it’s not contingent on using Paypal. Just know that it will likely refund slightly less than pledged due to a devaluation of the Norwegian Krone versus currencies such as USD, GBP and EUR.
